Daily App Advice
This review is for "Daily App Advice" iOS app by AppAdvice.com. This app used to be called "Apps Gone Free" in the past when I first installed it on my iPhone.
I personally don't like to pay for computer software or mobile apps unless I'm 100% convinced that it's worth the price because now days, there are so many similar and alternative software and apps that are free. Many mobile apps also have freemium model where you can use the app for free but with annoying ads on the screen or in between usages. If you want to use the app without getting interrupted with ads then you can pay to remove the ads but I guess I'm so cheap that I would rather get annoyed at seeing ads than to pay for it. I only pay to remove the ads when I'm mind blown by the app and it's something that I must have without any interruption.
This is where Daily App Advice iOS app comes in.
This is a free app that notifies you and tells you which PAID apps are available for FREE for a limited time (usually for that day only).
I honestly can't count and don't remember how many PAID apps and games I got for FREE due to this awesome app.
I've had this app for over a year but even til now, I pause and check this app whenever I get notification indicating that today's FREE apps are available because I don't want to miss an opportunity to get something for free
The original "Apps Gone Free" name got changed to "Daily App Advice" on January 2017 during version 3.0 update and it looks like they rebranded the app and added bunch of new features other than what it originally did. Luckily, there's a "Use Classic Mode" setting in the app, which will just display the "Today's Apps Gone Free" page by default.
David's Conclusion
Positives
- It's free!
- It lets you know which paid apps and games are available for free every day!
Negatives
- Some of the featured apps and games are free to download but they have ads or have trial period, so it's not really free.
My Wishlist
- I wish it would only feature the apps and games that are truly free. By free, I mean that the feature apps/games would be identical to the version when it's normally downloaded and paid for.
Full Disclosure & Final Thoughts
- I don't remember when I first installed this app but I know it's been more than a year.
- I still use this app every day.
- I know there are similar and alternative apps that find you paid apps that gone free but I haven't used others so can't comment on them.
- I wholeheartedly recommend this app if you have iOS device.
