Teslong Thermal Imaging Monocular

whole new different level from night vision binoculars

I love tech related gadgets and I have purchased few different night vision binoculars where it allows me to see in pitch black. It's truly amazing how well you can see in the dark using a night vision binoculars. This thermal imaging monocular, however, is at different level from those night vision binoculars because this will only highlight the things that are releasing heat compared to their surrounding. While I can see clearly in the dark using a night vision binoculars, I still have to be able to search and find the things that I want to watch, such as wild animals, which still maybe difficult to spot if they are hiding or in the middle of trees and bushes. This is where the thermal monocular shines above others because this will immediately highlight the any animals, humans, or anything that are releasing heat from its body. I can quickly scan and spot any animals or human even if they are hiding behind a bushes because the heat that their body is generating will escape out in the air. This makes it a great candidate for hunting or animal sight seeing because you will be able to spot them quickly and easily whether it's day or night as thermal imaging is purely based on heat rather than light!

[ FIRST IMPRESSION: ]

It came in a professional retail packaging and Teslong is a reputable brand that makes high quality endoscope so I knew I would be impressed with their thermal monocular. It comes with a semi-hard storage case that fits the thermal monocular perfectly with elastic strap that holds it securely inside the case.
Many night vision binoculars requires about 8 AA batteries, which isn't something that's always readily available at home but I like that this thermal monocular not only have a built-in rechargeable battery but it has a whopping 4500mAh battery capacity that can last up to 20 hours before needing to be charged again. That's an impressive built-in rechargeable battery and I wish some of the night vision binoculars that I purchased had a built-in rechargeable battery like this one.
This is a monocular, which means you have to see it using only one eye and the shape is narrow and long so I can easily grab and use it with just one hand. I appreciate the protective lens cover that is attached to the device so I don't have to worry about misplacing it. When I power on, the TESLONG name near the eyepiece lights up to indicate that power is on.

[ FEATURES: ]

> Display Modes - It has 5 different display modes: Iron Oxide Red, Red Hot, Black Hot, White Hot, and Green Hot. My favorite mode is Red Hot because it's very close to a heat map where anything object or living thing that generates heat will be shown in red while everything else will be shown in black and white.

> Photo Capture - There's a dedicated camera button that allows you to quickly take picture of what you see through this device into a memory card and it's awesome that 16GB micro-SD card comes with this device so you are ready to rock and roll as soon as it's fully charged before very first usage.

> Digital Zoom & Diopter Adjustment - There's a zoom button that will toggle between 1x, 2x and 4x digital zoom, which is nice feature and you can rotate the diopter adjustment dial to make adjustment to the focus and clarity.

> Green Laser Light - Pressing and holding down the power button will turn on/off the device but if you simply press the power button quickly while the device is on, it turns on the green laser light, which is very bright and has amazing reach. Please don't look directly at the laser light or point it to someone's face. This laser light is perfect for hunters since it can identify where you are looking at to the person next to you. In other words, you can be the eye to find the hiding animals using this cool thermal monocular then use the laser light to indicate where the animal is so the people around you can know where they are hiding since they can't see what you are seeing through this device. Very neat feature for hunters.

[ PERFORMANCE: ]

> Rechargeable battery - It has 4500mAh rechargeable battery that can be charged using the USB-C braided cable provided. Once fully charged, it can last up to 20 hours!

> Thermal Vision - I was blown away the very first time I got my night vision binoculars but this thermal vision is out of this world. It allows me to only see and spot things that I only care about, which is animals and humans, and it works the same way whether it's day or night. I can also use this around the house to spot the cold spots and where the drafts are in the wall or around the door and windows.

> Weather Resistant - This device feels solid and was designed for hunters to use outdoor so it's okay to use it even if it's raining outside. It can handle it.

[ WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED: ]

While this is one impressive tech gadget, I think these enhancements will make it even more amazing.
1) Photos captured using this device is saved as BMP file type. It would be better to save as JPG format.
2) It would be amazing if it can also record video as well as have an option to playback what was captured using the view finder.

These 2 recommendations are not really a deal breaker and purely a nice to haves but what would really be awesome is if they can provide a view finder adapter where a smart phone's camera lens can be securely placed as I have seen in other binoculars and telescopes. This will then allow me to take pictures and record videos from my iPhone and capture whatever this thermal monocular is seeing. This also allows more than one person to see through the iPhone screen. I understand that this is not really needed for hunting as you need to be able to quickly use it to spot the animals but it would be helpful for nature sightseeing or even at home for home improvements.

[ BOTTOM LINE: ]

This is one of the coolest tech gadget I got in a while. After using this, my night vision binoculars became very boring. I used this to find cold spots around the house and even found a baby birds nesting and sleeping in a small tree in front of my house at night! We have so many wild animals in our backyards and sometimes they go under our deck or come out at night to look for food so I can now use this to quickly spot them. Teslong really knows how to make imaging related devices. Easily 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend it for hunters, sightseeing, and even for home improvement projects.
